To refresh your memory, last season ended on a rather ominous note after Hotch hinted that the team might experience some changes. With that in mind, Special Agent AARON "HOTCH" HOTCHNER (Thomas Gibson) returns this season as the unit chief of Quantico's Behavioral Analysis Unit, as well as JENNIFER "JJ" JAREAU (A.J. Cook), who returns from her top secret position at the Pentagon and rejoins the team as a full-time profiler for the BAU.

Also returning to the show is seasoned agent DAVID ROSSI (Joe Mantegna) following a near-death experience in the season finale in which he was almost shot by an unsub pretending to be a human trafficking victim, and Special Agent EMILY PRENTISS (Paget Brewster), whose mysterious and checkered past has come to haunt her in the new season premiere.

Rounding out the team is Special Agent Dr. SPENCER REID (Matthew Gray Gubler), a certified genius with an eidetic memory, Special Agent DEREK MORGAN (Shemar Moore), an expert in obsessive behaviors, and sweet, quirky computer technician PENELOPE GARCIA (Kirsten Vangsness), who left last season contemplating her boyfriend Kevin's suggestion to retire to the country.
