For those of you following along with TVplus news, you may recall that last March, we announced a partnership with Disney Home Entertainment to build a second screen application for the animated movie Bambi. Now, almost a year later, we’re excited to share that Disney has released its’ sixth title for the Second Screen using TVplus’s audio sync technology.
The Disney Second Screen experience allows viewers the chance to enjoy interactive content on their iPad or laptop while watching select Disney Blu-ray movies. While using the app, connected viewers can explore interactive galleries, play games and learn interesting facts about the movies while they watch. Our audio sync technology makes it possible for an iPad or laptop to identify exactly where a viewer is in a particular program so that a relevant, second-screen experience will be timed exactly with what’s taking place on TV. How’s that for keeping an antsy kid entertained?!
Lady and the Tramp is the most recent movie to join the Disney Second Screen App family. The film was originally released in theaters in 1957—long before the concept of ‘second screen’ even existed. It was recently re-released in Blu-Ray as part of Disney’s Diamond Edition. The app includes things like storyboards, games and behind the scene features. Our favorite part? The app lets viewers “paint” movie scenes on their iPad or laptop as they’re watching those exact moments on television.
Prior to Lady and the Tramp, Disney previously released second screen experiences for other blockbusters including Bambi, The Lion King, Tron: Legacy, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, and Real Steel which was released last month. All six titles leverage the TVplus audio sync technology.
